Ms Lai Wai Lin has more than fourteen years of work experience with six years in the human
capital management and development field. Her work experience ranges from being an
entrepreneur to marketing, research & development and subsequently product management
and business development roles with a national management institute.
In research and development, she contributed to a national research study on Malaysian
Management Capability Index from 2006-2010, and research on entrepreneurship propensity
with the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2006 (Malaysia's Report) and Malaysian
Entrepreneurial Activity Report 2006, a study commissioned by the Economic Planning Unit
(EPU).
The development work which she had implemented include Training Needs Analysis
Methodology, Competency Assessment Process for the selection of Manager Award, the
enhancement of an online technology tool used to assess, develop and monitor the training and
development needs of organisations, and the setting up of a knowledge management system
and process.
Wai Lin had participated as a member of the taskforce on Malaysia's Workforce
Competitiveness and Competency, a sub-committee of Technical Resource Group on Human
Resources on the Industrial Master Plan 3 (IMP3) appointed by the Minister of International
Trade and Industry Malaysia, the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB’s) Focus Group
to identify core competencies and training curriculum for private institutions of higher learning
under PSMB and the Malaysian Services Development Council (MSDC) focus group on
Professional Business Services.
In 2009, Wai Lin was selected to represent Malaysia in the first Knowledge Management Study
Tour undertaken by the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), Japan in cooperation with the
project "Fit for the knowledge competition" which is supported by the German Ministry for
Economics and Technology (BMWi). The study mission was on benchmarking best practices of
Knowledge Creating Enterprises in Germany.
Wai Lin graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Computer Science and
Mathematics from Campbell University, USA. She is a Certified Professional Trainer (MIM-CPT),
a Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM), and a Certified Professional Intellectual Property
Manager (MIM-CPIPM).
